Management Theory And Management Function Essay - 1149 Words

According to the management theory, management is the process that is used by managers and leaders to attain goals through other people and with other people. Leaders make use of this process to achieve objectives/goals in the most efficient ways (Robbins Coulter, 2012). The management theory is made up of 4 management functions; that is planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Planning: this is the first management function. Since processes are by and large interdependent, every function of management starts with planning. Leading: this management function entails motivating or directing other people to work towards the collective organizational goals. Managers in an organization use the leading function to increase the productivity of employees, develop a better service/product, or improve the morale of workers (Mitzberg, 2013). Organizing: this management function is a constant effort all through a project s life. Organizing establishes and assesses the organization s stru ctures. Controlling: this final management function links the function of planning through comparing the planned performance against the actual performance. The managers can then choose if adjustments or changes are required (Robbins Coulter, 2012).
